CCR Questions 1

The product I submitted used some conventions of my genre, which is men's fashion magazines. I used some of the magazines conventions on the layout of my pages. The use of conventions can be seen on every page of the magazine. On the cover page, I used these conventions by having a large/catchy title and having the subtitles go around the people in the image. On the second page I used the convention of having a small reference with description to the cover photo on this table of contents page. This sort of layout is used by many magazines not only in my specific genre, but can be found in most magazines in general. On the third and fourth pages, I used similar layouts to those found from many GQ magazines. There was a large title, with images on both the left and right side diagonal with one another. The text is on the opposite side of the image, making it look very nice and organized. My magazine is represented to a specific social group which is men between the ages of 14-30. This would be the age range because it is a men's fashion magazine, and shows off local brands. Those under the age of 14 probably wont want these products because most will only be offered in adult sizing. Those over 30 normally wouldn't care about new fashion because they will be established and already have a style by that point. It will be towards men and not women because it is specifically a men's fashion magazine, and features only men's clothing.

This magazine, Teen People, is another magazine that would feature a similar target audience to my own magazine. This magazine features that similar to People Magazine, but is targeted more towards teens. This magazine has many different themes usually featuring a variety of lifestyle ideas and celebrities. The target audience for both mine as well as Teen People would be teens. This magazine, Teen Vogue, has a very similar target audience to mine. This is due to the fact that both are fashion magazines. Not only this, but they also are both aimed more towards teens rather than kids or adults. This is due to the new fashion trends and styles that are shown off inside the magazine. The way that Teen Vogue made themselves successful is by having lots of diversity, marketing, and being flexible. They used and supported the LGBTQ community throughout there magazine which showed there diversity and equality towards a variety of differences. They have a very large social media following because they are always up to date on trends and feature the hottest new teens in order to keep the audience interested. They also are very flexible in the sense of listening to their reviews. Distribution Research

The traditional distribution model for a magazine has to follow the three party equation. You need the producers, the wholesaler, and the retailer. The model shows how these three different parties need to work together in order to distribute the magazine to the best ability. The producer is the person who makes the products (magazine in my case). The wholesaler is the person who gets the product from the factory and will distribute them to different stores in order to sell the product. The retailer is the salespersons who work at the stores in which the products are sold. If any one of these people mess up the process, it messes up everything. On the other hand, their can be modifications done correctly that will let this work such as the producer selling directly to the retailers.
