Audience Engagement 3

Another Man Magazine Another Man magazine is another magazine that fits under very similar target audiences to mine. My Both of the magazines are aimed mainly towards the male gender. They both also aim towards the younger audiences. My magazine does this in a way by providing only fashion products that are local to the area and mainly very creative and fun. Due to this, it doesn't really aim towards the younger or older audience due to them not caring as much about being cool and in with the latest trends. Another Man magazine also uses very modern and young icons in order to appeal the readers in and want to buy it. They are very successful due to their use of staying relevant with the latest celebrities and doing work with them. They are also very active on social media which helps them show off their product and get many viewers from the combination of both of these techniques. I would utilize these techniques in order to also get more exposure. Having a social media accoun...

Audience Engagement 2

This magazine, Teen People, is another magazine that would feature a similar target audience to my own magazine. This magazine features that similar to People Magazine, but is targeted more towards teens. This magazine has many different themes usually featuring a variety of lifestyle ideas and celebrities. The target audience for both mine as well as Teen People would be teens. This would be the audience with mine because it focuses on new fashion trends, which is what many teens would focus on rather than younger and older people. The target audience would be the same for this magazine because it focuses mainly on teens and different trends which they posses. The ways in which they made this so effective was by using famous teens at the time, for example on this they used the Backstreet Boys. Teen People has an advertisement team that tends to be very experimental. This feature will benefit them because they will have new kinds of adds on other media sources. This same kind of thin...

Audience Engagement Research 1

This magazine, Teen Vogue, has a very similar target audience to mine. This is due to the fact that both are fashion magazines. Not only this, but they also are both aimed more towards teens rather than kids or adults. This is due to the new fashion trends and styles that are shown off inside the magazine. The way that Teen Vogue made themselves successful is by having lots of diversity, marketing, and being flexible. They used and supported the LGBTQ community throughout there magazine which showed there diversity and equality towards a variety of differences. They have a very large social media following because they are always up to date on trends and feature the hottest new teens in order to keep the audience interested. They also are very flexible in the sense of listening to their reviews. They keep there magazine up to date, and if there are critics towards one thing, they have the flexibility to immediately change it and improve. I would use the social media and diversity in ...

Target Audience Research

The target audience aimed towards my Men's fashion magazine would be pretty specific. This is due to the fact that it is showing off local brands specific to the state of Florida. These brands that are being shown off normally have large graphics on them rather than being plane, meaning that older men would most likely not want to wear these clothes over the basics that most would prefer. On the other hand, many of these brands don't feature kids lines, so the target audience wouldn't be aimed towards kids. Also, the clothes featured throughout this magazine are only men's, therefore making the target audience only really men unless women want to wear these clothes. Due to this, the target audience of my magazine would mainly be men (maybe a bit of women) between the ages of thirteen to thirty. Those younger probably couldn't fit into them, and those older would most likely not be looking for new fashion trends at that point.

Feedback and Revisions

Due to the revisions I was given there are a few changes I will be making to my magazine. One of the biggest issues with my magazine was the last page. There are supposed to be two pages with articles, but I only had pictures. I need to make sure I have more text for this page, but still include the large pictures in order to get a good look at the product being presented. This will be a big improvement to my project because that is a requirement for the project. Another improvement that I need to make is changing the Table of Contents. My original mid term submission had a very basic table of contents on a blank page. I need to add more color and use other fonts to make this look very intricate rather than a basic blank page. They are looking for blank pages to give less points, so adding more color and feature to my page will help improve my grade a lot. I will carry out these changes by going into Publisher and make sure to perfect everything. I would add lots of text to the l...

Use of Conventions

The product I submitted used some conventions of my genre of men's fashion magazines. I used some of the magazines conventions on their layouts of pages. This can be seen on the cover page as well as the third page of the magazine. On the cover page, I used these conventions by having a large/catchy title and having the subtitles go around the people in the image. On the third page, I used one of the layouts that I found from many magazines especially GQ. There was a large title, with images on both the left and right side diagonal with one another. The text is on the opposite side of the image, making it look very nice and organized. My magazine is represented to a specific social group which is men between the ages of 14-30. This would be the age range because it is a men's fashion magazine, and shows off local brands. Those under the age of 14 probably wont want these products because most will only be offered in adult sizing. Those over 30 normally wouldn't care about n...

Mid Term Submission

Image
Throughout this project, I decided upon doing a magazine rather than a film. The reason being is that I am a photographer so I would already have previous knowledge on how to make everything look good, and not have to spend time learning a completely new area to myself in film. Later, after deciding between a film or magazine, we had to make our choices a lot more specific. My final product would be a men’s fashion magazine, that would focus in on local brands in Florida and how they are fashionable. After taking some time to think about how I would find local brands, I realized that a few of my good friends began making their own clothing lines. The first being my friend Leo Glickman who runs Pearl Rose, as well as two other friends of mine Ramzi Kabban and Chaz Travers who run Hidden Spectrum. We then scheduled dates and planned out areas where they would like the pictures to be taken at. We eventually decided upon doing the photo shoot for Pearl Rose at Red Bug Slough Re...

Flat Plan

Image
This flat plan will show how I would lay out the entire magazine if it did have to be 100 pages long. This flat plan would feature other sections that wont be found in my actual magazine. It will feature sections such as: many ads, photos of models, celebrity section, and description of pieces. These sections relate the the magazine as a whole because they have to do with the same topic of fashion. The ads are what I would need in order to make money from the magazines. The models section will be the people who would wear the fashion clothing in the pictures. The celebrity section will show what famous people are wearing. The descriptions of pieces will help provide details on why the designs were made the way they are, as well as the prices and sizing of the items.
